19 lakh WhatsApp accounts were disabled in a single month – do you know why?

According to WhatsApp India, around 19 lakh WhatsApp accounts were disabled in India in the month of May alone. These accounts have been banned for violating the new IT rules 2021. In a similar move last April, WhatsApp blocked around 16.6 lakh accounts. Last March, 18.5 lakh accounts were frozen. This disciplinary process continues every month.

In a statement issued by the company in this regard, ‘For the past few years, we have been working with experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence, and data science to make the WhatsApp platform secure.

In this case, the company is constantly considering the feedback and complaints of customers to ensure their safety. Based on this action, these accounts were blocked. The company is making efforts to prevent WhatsApp from being used as a tool to carry out wrongdoing.

According to the Information Technology Act 2021, WhatsApp has to submit a monthly report. Complaints raised about illegal WhatsApp accounts will be considered and those accounts will be blocked. The company continues to emphasize that any user using the WhatsApp app who violates the said terms will have their WhatsApp accounts banned.
