Prathap Pothan, a Popular actor cum director passed away in Kilpauk, Chennai on Friday. His age was 69. A police officer said in their report that he had died of natural health causes.
Prathap Pothan had acted in more than 100 films in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. Vetri Vizha Starring Kamalhasan and My dear Marthandan were super hit Tamil films are some of his Direction. He has won many awards.
In 1979, Filmfare awarded the best actor for Thakara. In 1980, Filmfare awarded the Best Actor for Chamaram. In 1985, Indira Gandhi awarded the best debut film director for Meendum Oru Kathal Kathai. In 1987, Filmfare awarded the best director for the film Rithubhedam. In 2012 SIIMA awarded the best film 2022 Female Kottayam.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the crematorium on New Avadi Road, Chennai
