At least 1,000 people have been killed in a devastating earthquake in Afghanistan strong earthquake shook the province of Baqtika in the South Asian country of Afghanistan this morning. The quake measured 6.1 on the Richter scale. The public felt the quake and ran out screaming.

Shopping malls and buildings were shaken. The death toll from the quake has risen to 1,000, with initial reports that about 130 people had been killed.

More than 100 people have been killed in Baghdad province alone. Also, 600 people were injured. All of them have been admitted for treatment at a nearby hospital. It is feared that the death toll could rise further as the condition of many is worrying. The Taliban are yet to confirm this information. The quake affected neighboring Pakistan.
