Euphoria Star Angus Cloud’s Death Ruled as Accidental Overdose

Actor had a lethal mix of drugs in his system, coroner says

Angus Cloud, the actor who played the drug dealer Fezco in the HBO series Euphoria, died of an accidental overdose in July, according to the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau. The coroner’s report, which was obtained by several media outlets on Thursday, revealed that Cloud had a fatal combination of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and benzodiazepines in his system at the time of his death. He was 25 years old.

Cloud was found unresponsive at his parents’ home in Oakland, California, on July 31. His family confirmed his death in a statement, saying that he had been struggling with the loss of his father, who died in May from mesothelioma, a cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. His mother, Lisa Cloud McLaughlin, said in a later post on Facebook that her son did not intend to end his life and that he had been making plans for the future.

Cloud was a newcomer to acting and a fan favorite on Euphoria

Cloud had no acting experience before he was cast as Fezco, the loyal and protective friend of Rue Bennett, the troubled protagonist of Euphoria, played by Zendaya. He was discovered by a casting scout on the streets of New York and impressed the series creator, Sam Levinson, with his natural talent and charisma. He quickly became a fan favorite for his portrayal of the complex and sympathetic character, who dealt drugs but also cared deeply for Rue and her well-being.
