What’s New and How to Use It

Google News is a web news service that provides and operates by internet giant Google Inc. It is a free news aggregator that selects and displays news from thousands of news websites based on your likes and interests. In this article, we will explore some of the new features and updates that Google News has introduced recently and how you can use them to stay informed and connected with the world.

Google News Gets Bard Support

One of the new features that Google News has announced is the integration of Bard, a natural language understanding and generation system that can create summaries, headlines, and stories from any text input. Bard is now available in most countries and in widely spoken languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, and Telugu. You can use Bard to get a quick overview of any news article or topic by typing or speaking your query in the app. Bard will generate a concise and coherent summary for you in seconds. You can also use Bard to create your own stories or headlines by providing some keywords or phrases as input. Bard will use its artificial intelligence and creativity to produce original and engaging content for you.

Google News Expands User Choice Billing

Another update that Google News has made is the expansion of user choice billing to all developers in India. This means that app developers who offer in-app purchases or subscriptions on Google Play can now choose their own payment method, such as UPI, net banking, or credit cards, instead of using Google’s billing system. This move comes after the Competition Commission of India (CCI) ordered Google to comply with its antitrust probe in October 2022. Google said that it respects the CCI’s order and wants to support the growth and innovation of the Indian app ecosystem.

Google News Offers Full Coverage and Fact Checking

Google News also offers a feature called Full Coverage, which allows you to explore a single story from multiple perspectives with news coverage and analysis from an array of sources. You can access Full Coverage by tapping on the icon at the top right corner of any news story in the app. You will see different sections such as Top Stories, Videos, Opinion, Timeline, Local Sources, and Related Topics that will help you get a comprehensive and balanced view of the story. You can also see highlighted articles from independent fact checkers that will verify the accuracy and credibility of the information presented in the news.

Google News Provides Local and Global COVID News

Google News also provides the most relevant news and information about the coronavirus pandemic—all in one place. You can find the latest guidelines and data trends, as well as stories about how COVID-19 is affecting your community and the world. You can also access helpful resources such as vaccine registration, testing centers, travel advisories, and mental health support. To get the COVID news section, you can either search for “COVID” or “coronavirus” in the app or tap on the COVID-19 tab at the bottom of the screen.

How to Customize Google News

You can customize Google News to get stories about specific topics, places, or publications that interest you. The updates from the interests you follow show up in the Following tab’s content feed. To follow or unfollow an interest, you can either search for it in the app or tap on the “+” icon at the top right corner of any news story related to it. You can also manage your interests by going to Settings > Interests > Your Interests. You can also adjust the frequency and notifications of the stories you receive by going to Settings > Notifications.

Google News is a powerful and convenient way to stay updated with the world. You can download it from Google Play or access it from your computer by visiting Google News.
