Google is set to unveil its latest flagship smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, on October 4th. However, a YouTube channel has already posted an unboxing video of the Pixel 8, revealing some of its features and specifications.
Pixel 8 Design and Display
The unboxing video, uploaded by PBK Reviews, shows the Pixel 8 in the Hazel color option. The phone has a shiny glass back with a familiar camera bar that houses two sensors and an LED flash. The front of the phone has a 6.2-inch OLED display with a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. The display supports a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz and has a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.
The Pixel 8 also has an under-display fingerprint sensor and a SIM tray on the left side. The right side has the power and volume buttons, while the bottom has a USB-C port and a speaker grille. The phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack or a microSD card slot.
Pixel 8 Box Contents and Storage
The video also reveals what comes in the box of the Pixel 8. The package includes a Quick Switch adapter for data transfer, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, and some paperwork. There is no charging adapter or earphones included in the box, which is consistent with the previous Pixel phones.
The Pixel 8 has 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There is no option to expand the storage via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 13 with Google’s custom Tensor G3 chipset and Titan M2 security coprocessor. The phone also promises to receive seven years of OS and security updates from Google.
Pixel 8 Cameras and Battery
The Pixel 8 has a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50MP Octa PD wide camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The cameras support optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS). The front-facing camera is a 10.5MP Dual PD sensor. The Pixel 8 also has some new camera features, such as Real Tone, Night Sight, Astrophotography, Super Res Zoom, and Magic Editor.
The Pixel 8 has a 4,575mAh battery that supports up to 27W fast charging and up to 18W wireless charging. The phone also has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and IP68 water and dust resistance.
Pixel 8 Price and Availability
The Pixel 8 is expected to start at $699 for the 128GB variant. The phone will also be available in Obsidian and Rose colors. The Pixel 8 Pro, which will have a larger 6.7-inch display, a triple-camera setup, and a bigger 5,050mAh battery, will start at $899. The Pixel 8 Pro will also come in Obsidian, Porcelain, and Bay colors.
The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be available for pre-order on October 4th, the same day as the official launch event. The phones will likely ship later in October or early November.
