How to Play Powerball

Powerball is a multi-state lottery game that costs $2 per play. Players have to choose five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerball. They can also opt for a random selection of numbers. To win the jackpot, players have to match all five white balls and the Powerball. There are also eight other ways to win prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million, depending on how many numbers are matched.

Players can also pay an extra $1 to activate the Power Play option, which multiplies the non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. The 10X multiplier is only available when the jackpot is $150 million or less. The second-tier prize of matching five white balls is capped at $2 million with the Power Play.

Some jurisdictions also offer a Double Play feature for an additional $1 per play, which gives players another chance to match their numbers in a separate drawing with a top prize of $10 million.
