The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $550 million after no one matched all six numbers in the drawing on Saturday, September 11, 2023. The winning numbers were 9, 25, 27, 53, 66 and the Powerball was 5. The Power Play was 2x.

One ticket wins $2 million

Although there was no grand prize winner, one lucky ticket sold in Virginia matched five numbers plus the Power Play and won $2 million. The ticket holder doubled their prize from the standard $1 million by adding the Power Play option for an extra dollar.

Nine tickets win $50,000

Nine other tickets matched four numbers plus the Powerball and won $50,000 each. Three of them increased their winnings to $100,000 by adding the Power Play. The winning tickets were sold in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and Texas.

Double Play results

The Double Play option, which is available in select states, gives players another chance to win up to $10 million in a separate drawing. The Double Play numbers for Saturday were 18, 22, 25, 30, 35 and the Powerball was 22. No one matched all six numbers, but two tickets matched five numbers and won $500,000 each. They were sold in Florida and Pennsylvania.

Next drawing on Wednesday

The next Powerball drawing will be on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 10:59 p.m. ET. The estimated jackpot is $550 million with a cash option of $266 million. It is the ninth-largest jackpot in Powerball history and the largest since January 2022, when a single ticket in California won $1.08 billion.

How to play Powerball

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play. Players select five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26. Players can also choose the Quick Pick option to have the numbers randomly generated. To win the jackpot, players must match all six numbers drawn. There are nine ways to win a prize, ranging from $4 to the jackpot. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9.

Players can also add the Power Play option for an extra dollar to multiply their non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times. The Power Play multiplier is randomly selected before each drawing. The jackpot is not affected by the Power Play option.

Players can also opt for the Double Play option for an extra dollar in select states. This gives them another chance to win up to $10 million in a separate drawing with the same numbers and Powerball number as their original ticket. The Double Play multiplier is also randomly selected before each drawing.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased until 10 p.m. ET on the night of the drawing in most states.
