Actors receive invitation from RSS leaders for the event in Ayodhya
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, one of the most popular couples in Bollywood, have received an official invitation to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The ceremony, which marks the culmination of a series of elaborate rituals starting from January 16, will be held on January 22.
The actors were personally invited by Sunil Ambekar, the national publicity head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Ajay Mudpe, the regional publicity head of the RSS for Konkan, along with producer Mahaveer Jain. The invitation was delivered to them at their residence in Mumbai on Sunday.
Invitation sparks controversy and criticism from right-wing groups
The invitation to Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has sparked a controversy and criticism from some right-wing groups, who have accused the actors of being anti-Hindu and beef-eaters. They have also called for a boycott of their films and urged the RSS to withdraw the invitation.
The controversy stems from an old video of Ranbir Kapoor, in which he had said that he was a non-vegetarian and that he ate beef. The video had gone viral in 2016 and had led to a backlash from some Hindu groups, who had filed a complaint against him for hurting their religious sentiments.
Alia Bhatt, who is dating Ranbir Kapoor, has also faced the wrath of some right-wing groups, who have accused her of being anti-national and pro-Pakistan. They have also questioned her religious identity and lineage, as she is the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan, who are of mixed faith.
Actors express gratitude and excitement for the invitation
Despite the controversy and criticism, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have expressed their gratitude and excitement for the invitation to the Ram temple ceremony. They have said that they are honoured and privileged to be part of the historic event and that they respect the sentiments of the people who have fought for the cause of the temple.
The actors have also said that they are looking forward to visiting Ayodhya and witnessing the installation of the Ram Lalla idol in the grand temple. They have also said that they hope that the temple will bring peace and harmony to the country and the world.
Other celebrities also expected to attend the ceremony
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are not the only celebrities who have been invited to the Ram temple ceremony. According to sources, other actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Sunny Deol, Prabhas, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, and Akshay Kumar are also expected to be part of the ceremony.
The ceremony will also be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and other prominent leaders and dignitaries. The ceremony will be telecast live on various channels and platforms.
