Telangana Chief Minister and state Congress president A Revanth Reddy has requested former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the state. Reddy met Gandhi in Delhi on Monday and conveyed the sentiments of the Telangana Congress unit, which had passed a resolution urging her to fight from the state. Sonia Gandhi says will decide at right time

Reddy proposes Khammam seat for Gandhi
Reddy, who was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and state Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, suggested that Gandhi should contest from the Khammam seat in Telangana. He said that the seat has a strong presence of the Congress and its allies, and Gandhi’s candidature would boost the morale of the party workers and supporters. He also said that Gandhi’s victory from Telangana would send a strong message to the country.
Reddy highlights achievements of his government
Reddy also briefed Gandhi about the achievements of his government, which came to power in December 2023 after defeating the ruling TRS. He said that his government has fulfilled six of the poll ‘guarantees’ of the Congress, including free travel for women in state-run RTC buses and a health scheme of Rs 10 lakh for the poor. He also said that his government has decided to conduct a ‘caste census’ and preparations have begun for the same.
Reddy confident of winning maximum seats in LS polls
Reddy also expressed confidence that the Telangana Congress will win as many seats as possible out of the total 17 in the Lok Sabha polls. He said that the party is making all the necessary arrangements and strategies to achieve the goal. He also said that the party will expose the failures and corruption of the BJP-led central government and the TRS-led state government. He said that the Congress will fight for the rights and interests of the people of Telangana.
